Matt’s on vacation, so there’s no episode this week.
We actually had plans to do one for you and things…well, they went awry. We’ll be back with one next week, though. An episode that will magically appear even though Matt isn’t here this week to record it.
Over on our other podcast, Movie Fighters, we’ve wrapped up our first series of movies, which were all based on fighting games!
If you haven’t listened to the show yet, you can get all four episodes in one album over on Bandcamp, for just four bucks! The album includes a free bonus episode, in which we watch the first episode of the 1995 Street Fighter cartoon, which you can stream right here:
Chris and Matt’s new show, Movie Fighters, has arrived, and you can get the first episode at Bandcamp right now for one dollar!
It’s a little different from WRA in terms of format and the actual audio files, so Matt wrote up an FAQ on the Movie Fighters Tumblr here.
Also, be sure to follow the Tumblr! It’s where we’ll post pictures/clips from the movie and other stuff that’s relevant to the review.
First off, I want to say thanks to everyone who has donated in our donation drive so far. We love you guys.
Second, Chris and I have finally figured out our reward tiers (we think). Here’s what we’ve got:
- For any donation: We’ll read your name out on the show.
- For any donation $5 or higher: You’ll get a code for a free episode download of our new movie-review podcast, which we’ll start up next week. Details to come!
- For $30: I’ll send you a signed copy of The Supervillain Field Manual, which comes out in July. (Or you can get the Handbook if you want that. Also, be aware that international shipping could be an issue if you’re outside the U.S. or Canada.)
- For $50: Chris will sign and send you a copy of Skullkickers Vol. 2, the TPB that features his six-page story.
- For $75: You get signed copies of both books.
- For $100: A chat with Chris and me on Skype about whatever topic you want to talk about.
- For $150: We’ll rename the show “____ Presents War Rocket Ajax” for one week and promote whatever project you’d like.
- For $175: Both signed books plus the Skype chat. (Or you could take the promo and one of the signed books.)
- For $225: Both signed books, plus the on-air promotion.
- For $300: You get it alllllllllllllllllll!
Here’s the donation button again:
If and when you donate, be sure to note which rewards you want. If you’ve already donated, email us at warrocketpodcast at gmail.com to let us know. (Note: That’s also the email you can send donations to if you hate donate buttons.) And make sure your address is correct/updated!
Also, once we hit $1,500, we’ll post our DOA: Dead or Alive review for everyone to enjoy. As I mentioned, we’re going to be doing something different for future reviews, so stay tuned there.
Also also: Thanks again to everyone. Even if you don’t offer any monetary support, you guys have been amazing for the past two weeks or so. (You’re amazing all the time, but you know what I mean.) We’re really glad you want us to keep doing the show, and you’ve made it so we really want to. If you have already donated something and you want to add to it to get one of the rewards, what you’ve already donated will count toward it.
Also x3: If any of these rewards seem like a rip-off, let us know. We tried to take your ideas into a account and keep them as affordable as possible without running into problems with our actual sponsors (I’ll just say this: you’re getting a deal).
Hey folks, if you have a few minutes to spare, it’d help us out a bunch if you’d go fill out this survey! It’ll give us a snapshot of our listening audience so we can find just the right sponsors!
It’s all anonymous and it should be pretty quick. Thanks in advance!
There’s no new show this week, but if you check out our iTunes feed, you can listen to a classic, Euge-era episode with Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente! Check it out!
Kyle Starks talked about his new Legend of Ricky Thunder Kickstarter on last week’s show, and it’s finally up and running!
So go and donate!
Matt’s out of town being a fancy public speaker, so he didn’t have time to edit a show.
We’ll be back next week!
Hey folks, some of you let me know in the comments that the latest episode of the show wasn’t showing up in iTunes. That confused me, because I saw very clearly that the iTunes feed had updated. But yesterday listener and Hundo Clubber Alberto De Jesus clued me in to what the issue might be, so I wanted to mention it.
If you manually subscribed to the show back when we were having to work around stuff on iTunes, you get a different feed from the people who just search for the show, click on it and subscribe. Frankly, I thought everyone had switched over to the new feed, so I didn’t update it last week. Turns out I was wrong.
So here’s what I’m asking: If you’re subscribed to the old feed, back from when I told you guys to type an address in manually, unsubscribe from that, find the show through search, and subscribe to that feed.
Then you’ll never miss an episode!
Apparently there’s a problem with Google’s embeddable audio player, which is why it isn’t showing up in any of the posts. The good news is, I have found a fix and am going to try to get that taken care of over the weekend.
Cross your fingers!
UPDATE: Everything should be working now!
